A young working class family is told that their baby has died in the fire. The mother, Luz, doesn't believe that is what happened...she thinks her daughter was taken and the fire was started to cover it up. No one else believes in her faith that her daughter is still alive, which leads to the breakup of her marriage. She never gives up hope and one day runs into an old acquaintance who has a six year old daughter. Luz thinks that the little girl might be her daughter and sets out to prove it. With the help of a State Representative that gets the police involved, they find that she may have been right all along.
